Given the impact of modern society on stress-related illnesses, there will be a greater need to ensure mental well-being.

The hypothesis is that VRMH will have a positive impact on the mental health of psychiatric patients. This hypothesis has already been investigated in a pilot study with the participation of a Danish veteran with PTSD and personality change after disaster experience. Data from this study show a significant decrease in the parameters of anxiety, vigilance, anger and sadness from before to after the use of VRHM.

Purpose and hypotheses

The primary purpose of the study is to monitor the mental state of a number of psychiatric patients and to examine whether the use of VRMH will activate the sedative system and the parasympathetic nervous system. This activation should have a positive impact on patients' overall mental health and well-being.

VRMH The exercises are followed up by physical measurements of sweating response and heart rhythm variation which are logged for data analysis. Data are also collected from questionnaires and assessment scales. For the daily monitoring of PTSD patients' general mental health, the proposal is to use a modified version of the WHO (Five) Well-Being Index (WHO-5) as a starting point.
